Treatments

Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of facial muscles in a particular manner.
Lines can be softened or in some cases erased by means of “filler injections” or surgical peel treatments. Although the damage has already been done, this “beauty sleep” treatment acts as a preventative.

Botox(R) or Botulinum toxin has been used for many years for ticks and squints. It does not cause any permanent damage or can it travel within the body. The injection technique used ensures the substance cannot pass into the bloodstream. It works by temporary inactivation of nerve-muscle interaction resulting in temporary “freezing” of the injected muscle. It may work as soon as day 3, gradually increasing to maximum effect by day 14. The effect should last for 3-6 months,after which muscle activity will gradually return. The aim is to break the habit of frowning and to educate the patient in his/her facial movements to forget the frowning habit. Usually, patients have several injections over a year or two to achieve this.

The injections take about 5 to 10 minutes. You will be asked to frown hard to see the exact pattern of the forehead movement. The injections are slightly uncomfortable but brief. A top-up may be necessary two weeks later to ensure the muscles are sufficiently immobile. You may be left with tiny red marks for an hour or two. These soon disappear.

Expert medical practitioners will tailor these procedures to achieve the best results. A visit two to three times a year will  maintain the younger you.
